So why aren’t these small business owners taking advantage of the low cost of corporate real estate? There are a few possible answers.
The Use of Alternative Workspace- Now more than ever employees are able to work from home or use other alternative workspace, making actual corporate real estate unnecessary in some situations. Through the use of SaaS (Software-as-a-service) employees have access to everything they would normally have access to at their desk in the office. With alternative workspace and telecommuting really picking up speed, expanding into a larger space isn’t always necessary for these small businesses to grow.
Concerns of Sustainability- With the economy just starting to make it’s recovery and going green being such a focus in business these days small businesses may be concerned that in purchasing new real estate and expanding office space maintaining a sustainable facility could be a huge challenge. The truth is with the appropriate solutions in place it wouldn’t be much of a challenge at all.
